  1. What is DriveHQ Email Hosting service? Is it better than other free email services?  Top

    DriveHQ Email Hosting service is different from other web-based free email hosting services. We only offer paid email service. It is designed for businesses. You can use popular email client applications such as Microsoft Outlook or Windows Mail app to access your emails. You can keep your emails in the cloud, or download to your local PC; you can create group email accounts for your organization and have virtually unlimited email box sizes.

  2. How do I get started with DriveHQ email hosting service?

    If you are not a DriveHQ member, you need to sign up first. If you become a paid member, then you get a default email account: USERNAME@firstcloudit.com. Please visit our online help pages for configuring Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. For all other email client software, please choose the default SMTP/POP3/IMAP4 port settings. You can use mail.firstcloudit.com for SMTP, POP and IMAP server addresses. We recommend using SMTP/POP/IMAP with SSL/TLS encryption. Please note "out-going emails require logon".

  3. What is the maximum email storage size and what is the maximum email size?

    DriveHQ offers 1GB free storage space, which can be used for emails and files. If you use POP with any email client, then you don't need any cloud-based email storage space. Your emails will be downloaded to your local PC/device and deleted from the email server. (You can keep new emails in the server for a few weeks). If you use IMAP, then all emails will be kept in the server. The maximum email size is 20MB for paid members. It is strongly recommended that you upgrade to our paid service. Our free email service has many restrictions and can only be used for initial trial.

  4. Is it possible to email a very large file, say a 200MB file?

    While it is possible for DriveHQ to support such big email attachments, most email servers limit it to only 20MB. If you need to send very large file(s), please use DriveHQ Online Storage and File Sharing service. You can share any size files/folders with DriveHQ FileManager or other FTP client software.

  5. I have a small business with 10 employees. Can I get 10 email addresses?

    Yes, you can use our Group Account service. You can easily upgrade to a group account, and then create sub-accounts. Group Account service gives more flexibility. You can manage sub-accounts yourself. Cost-wise, it is a lot cheaper than buying services individually.

  6. What are the most frequent problems our users experience?

    (1) When setting up DriveHQ email account, please make sure that “All out-going emails require logon” is checked and the logon credentials should be the same as the POP/IMAP settings (the same as DriveHQ account logon info).

    (2) Some spam-filters might incorrectly filter DriveHQ emails. In this case: check your junk/bulk mail folder and ask the other email service provider not to filter DriveHQ emails.

  7. Can I use DriveHQ email service for sending spam, bulk or phishing emails?

    It is strictly prohibited using our service for sending spam, bulk or phishing emails. DriveHQ has automatic monitoring tools to detect service abuses; in addition, our operations team also manually monitor service abuses 24x7. Your account will be disabled immediately should you engage in such activities. As a prevention for such abuse, each user can send a limited number of emails per day.

  8. Can I access DriveHQ email service from multiple computers and mobile devices?

    Obviously, you can access DriveHQ Email service using webmail from any number of computers. For accessing emails from multiple computers/mobile devices, please make sure you keep emails on server for a few days (for POP) before you delete them. For IMAP, all emails are kept on the server.

  9. How can I create my company domain email accounts?

    You must be a paid group administrator user to use the custom domain email feature. First of all, you must own a domain name. If not, you need to register a domain with any domain registrar company, e.g. network solutions or Register.com, etc. Once you have a domain, please add a DNS MX record using their web interface. The MX record should point to the email server mail.firstcloudit.com: 66.220.9.46. If you have any questions, please contact your domain registrar's customer support.

  10. Do you offer any email backup software?

    Yes, DriveHQ offers Online Backup software, which can automatically back up your files and emails. DriveHQ Online Backup can back up open (locked) files, incl. Outlook .PST files.

    DriveHQ also offers DriveHQ EmailManager, which can efficiently back up Microsoft Outlook. In stead of backing up a very large .PST file, it can parse a .PST file and back up emails one by one. The advantages are:
    - It is very efficient in both backup and recovery. If you need to restore one email, it will take less than a second.
    - You can access your backed-up emails on DriveHQ.com webmail.

  11. Do I need to install any email client software to access my emails?

    No, you can access your emails from the DriveHQ.com webmail interface. Mobile devices and most operating systems already have built-in email client.

  12. Can I set email rules and email filters?

    Yes, using Microsoft Outlook, you can setup any email rules or filters. Using DriveHQ webmail, you can also setup email rules and filters. In addition, you can configure Email Signature, Automatic Reply Message, Automatic Forward and Mailing Lists.

  13. How are free email accounts different from paid accounts?   Top

    Free email accounts are designed for initial trial only. You cannot use it for business purposes. Because it is so limited, don't even think about it for sending spam or bulk emails. You will hit the free service limit almost immediately.

    For paid accounts, you can use it for any normal business purposes. If you will use our email service very heavily, please make sure you have enough storage space in your account. If you are a sub-user of a group account, please make sure the group owner (administrator) has allocated enough storage space to you. Your combined email storage and file storage usage cannot exceed your account's max storage space.

  14. Can I change my username?   Top

    A standalone user or a group owner user cannot change his/her username directly. You can contact DriveHQ support to change it for you. A group owner (or administrator) can change a sub-account's username using the Group Admin feature. You can also create an email alias without changing your username, if you just want to get a different FirstCloudIT.com email address.

  15. Will I have to enter my credit card information to sign up?   Top

    No. Free service is available and will not expire. If you are satisfied with our service, you can then upgrade to our paid service.

  16. How can I manage my group email accounts?   Top

    Managing your group email accounts is very easy. First of all, you need to upgrade your account to a Group Account (if it is not a group account yet). Please log on to www.drivehq.com, go to My Account page, then click on Group Account. Once you are a group account, you will have access to the Group Admin feature, where you can create, add, edit or delete sub-accounts. For regular cloud file storage service, you don't need to allocate any storage space to sub-users. For group email service, please make sure you do allocate enough storage space to sub-users.
