Note: This support message is for Windows 8 with the Metro Interface. ( Windows 8 also supports the traditional desktop interface. If you installed DriveHQ FileManager 5.x for the desktop interface, you can uninstall it from Control Panel, the same as on Windows 7. )

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To install "DriveHQ FileManager for Windows 8 Store" (The Metro-style App optimized for Windows 8 touch screen computers/tablets), you just need to launch "Store" on your Windows 8 home screen, then search for DriveHQ.

Due to the restrictions imposed by Microsoft, "DriveHQ FileManager for Windows 8 Store" has fewer features than the regular desktop version DriveHQ FileManager 5.x. The desktop version has a lot more powerful features, such as drag and drop, automatic folder synchronization, directly edit remote files and save back to the cloud, share folders to different users with different permissions, publish folders and get static URLs/links to files and folders, etc...

The advantage of "DriveHQ FileManager for Windows 8 Store" is it's optimized for touch screen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To uninstall "DriveHQ FileManager for Windows 8 Store", it is extremely easy. It is surprising why some users had trouble uninstalling an app on Windows 8 Metro interface. Please note DriveHQ's app is a standard app certified by Microsoft Windows 8 Store. The steps to uninstall is identical to any other Windows 8 Store apps.

If you installed DHQ FileManager for Windows 8 Store, and if you can find the app tile on your home screen, then you can simply right click on the app tile, then click on "Uninstall" at the bottom of the screen to uninstall it.  If you cannot find the app tile on your home screen (e.g. if you had unpinned it), you can still find it from "All Apps", then right click on the App icon, then click "Uninstall" at the bottom of the screen. Please see the screenshots for more details:

If you installed DHQ App, but cannot find it from the home screen (maybe you unpinned it), then you can find it from AllApps.

On Windows 8 Metro interface, open All Apps

FileManager Lite does not create any problems. It is designed to store or backup your files in the Cloud so that you can access your files from anywhere, or share your files with other people (and set different permissions). It cannot open your files directly. To open a file type, you must have the right software installed to open the file type. Again, you just need to find the right software to open your file type.

Uninstalling a Windows 8 App that is downloaded from Microsoft's Windows Store cannot be easier. If you don't know what is Windows 8, Windows Store or Metro Style App, you need to contact Microsoft directly, or find somebody who knows better. Sorry we cannot help you. DriveHQ FileManager Lite is a Windows 8 App certified for Microsoft Windows Store. It is just like any other Windows 8 Apps.

I have Windows 10.  How do I uninstall it if it's not showing in Control Panel?

Microsoft has made Control Panel an outdated feature. To uninstall an app on Windows 10, you just need to find it in the Start Menu, then right click on it. Note click the right button instead of the left button of your mouse, then you can click Uninstall. Please see the screenshot below:

The installer / uninstaller feature is the same for all Windows Apps.
