I am attempting to logon via ftp in order to updatae a database a few times per day.

Each update logs on twice, and I tried to run the update more than 5 times (for the first time) yesterday, without realizing there was a log-on per day limit in place.

I received this error message:

"Not logged on, free service users can logon 100 times, plus 10 times/day, please upgrade on http://www.drivehq.com"

It has now been over 24 hours since I was last able to successfully log on via FTP, and I am still getting the same message (although I can log onto the website).

Can you tell me if/when this error will be cancelled and the account re-set so I can begin to run my updates again?

Thanks.

Subject: Re: error on attempting to logon - will it re-set?

We were recently hit with a distributed denial of service attack (DDos).

There were a huge number of users keep connecting to DriveHQ FTP Server. This creates a huge load on our servers. Such attacks take advantages of our free service as it is hard to indentify or catch them. In order not to disrupt our other users, we have temporarily reduced the allowed max daily FTP logon times.

We probably will increase the allowed daily logon times for free service users after the attack subsides.

In the meantime, we strongly recommend to upgrade to our paid service. You will also have access to a backup FTP site only for premium users:

    proFTP.drivehq.com

Please also note DriveHQ bundles all storage related services in the same premium service package for one low price. Our premium service starts at only $2.99/month. You will also get Online Storage, Online Sharing & Remote Collaboration, Online Backup and Folder Synchronization, Web / File / Email Hosting service, etc. for no additional charge.

In your case, your DriveHQ account is still active. So you can logon www.drivehq.com, go to My Account page, then click on Subscribe to upgrade to the paid service.

Once you become a paid account, we currently don't limit the max logon. Moreover, you can also connect to

ProFTP.drivehq.com, which can be a backup FTP site (only for paid members).

Using our service for any illegal activities or inappropriate activities is strictly prohibited. Such activities include using our service for KeyLogger software (unless you provide a legitimate reason), hacking, pirating, spreading virus or porn contents, etc.

You can logon www.drivehq.com website, or logon with DriveHQ FileManager client software which is far better than regular FTP client.

You might be able to regain free FTP logon after some time. It is dependent on how many FTP logons you have tried. We probably will increase the daily max FTP logon in a few days after we do a new analysis of the "Distributed Denial of Service" attack.

Upgrading to our premium service is strongly recommended. You will also have access to another FTP site only for premium users: proFTP.drivehq.com

In your case, your DriveHQ account is still working fine, except the FTP logon has been blocked.

You can still use DriveHQ website, DriveHQ FileManager client software, DriveHQ Online Backup client software, DriveHQ Email / Web / File Hosting services and DriveHQ Email Backup service.

If you want to re-enable your FTP logon, you need to order our paid service online.

Due to a lot of fraudulent transactions, we have required verification of all billing info. Please make sure you enter the same billing info as is in your credit card statement. If it doesn't work, do not retry more than 3 times. You can:

(1) Try a different credit card and see if it works;

(2) Pay by PayPal. You can choose Pay by PayPal when you order our service. PayPal uses a different transaction system so it  might work well for you. PayPal is an eBay company, which you can trust it.

PayPal seems to accept more credit cards, and it also accepts e-checks. PayPal account is not required to Pay by PayPal.

(3) You can also scan / email your detailed credit card info and billing info to DriveHQ support, or send a fax to DriveHQ.

I'm a little bit confused with Premium Service.  It was mentioned that it includes web hosting which is good, but I cannot find whether new Domain registration is free and included in this service.

Or if I pay for new Domain and hosting service (which is 29.99/year), is that automatically translate that I am now  a Premium Service user?

Please explain to me.  Thank you.

We refer any paid service as premium service. If you have a paid group account, then all group members also receive premium service.

The Web Hosting service is included; you can use DriveHQ secondary domain name: http://USERNAME.drivehq.com/

Using custom domain is also supported; however, DriveHQ doesn't offer domain registration service. You need to order it from register.com or godaddy.com, etc.

Once you have registered a domain name, you can then add a DNS A Record from your domain provider's website. Add an A-Record named "www" so that www.YOURDOMAIN resolves to 66.220.9.55; and then come back to DriveHQ.com website to associate the custom domain with your website on DriveHQ.com.
