Failed to communicate with DriveHQ online Backup Service. Please make sure it is started.

What does this mean and how do I rectify this problem.

This is the second big problem I have had in the last couple of months. First of all it completely lost my backup and now this. Not happy

Please note DriveHQ Online Backup software has two separate components:

(1) The GUI component, which runs as the process name of DriveHQBackup.exe, which is the GUI program used to create backup tasks, manage tasks, check account status and backup status, etc.

(2) A backup end service process: After you have created backup tasks, the actually backup is performed by the backend service process: DHQBackupSvc.exe.

Because this process runs as Windows (NT) service, you don't need to logon to run it. That is why DriveHQ Online Backup can protect your files even if you are not logged on.

---------

The error message says the GUI program cannot connect to the backend service process. Please check if the DriveHQ service process is running. If not, please try to open Administrative Tools --> Services, and check if you can find a process named:

DriveHQ Backup Service. If so, try to manually start it.

---------

We have released a newer version DriveHQ Online Backup 4.5 about 1 week ago, upgrading to the newer version might help. Reboot your computer could also help.

Please note many problems are caused by anti-virus software / security software blocking DriveHQ online backup GUI or the service process. So double check if you have any anti-virus software / security software blocked DriveHQ.
